Why use a red dot sight?
Improved accuracy and precision – Red dots provide a single focal plane, so you only need to focus on the target rather than aligning front sight, rear sight, and target. This typically leads to better shot placement, especially at distance.
Faster target acquisition – With traditional iron sights, your eye has to align multiple reference points. A red dot eliminates this step, allowing quicker sight picture acquisition and faster follow-up shots.
Better performance in low light – Red dots remain visible in dim conditions where iron sights might be hard to see. The illuminated dot stands out against dark backgrounds.
Easier for aging eyes – As people develop presbyopia (difficulty focusing on close objects), traditional iron sights become harder to use. Red dots eliminate the need to focus on the front sight.
Maintained peripheral vision – Since you’re not focused on aligning iron sights, you can maintain better awareness of your surroundings while aiming.
